Ault Out At Nevada

Posted:

Chris Ault, the winningest head coach in the history of Nevada football is walking away.

Ault had become frustrated with the school's limited football budget.

Saying he cannot take the program any further, the 66 year old Ault stepped down Friday after a 40 year association with the school, which began when he played quarterback for the Wolf Pack.

But he made his mark as head coach, developing one of the most prolific offenses in college football season after season.

Ault has a career record of 233-109-1, winning ten conference championships and taking the Wolf Pack to the postseason 16 times while developing a strong rivalry with Fresno State.

He may be best known for developing the pistol, a variation of the shotgun offense now used by hundreds of teams at all levels, from high school to the NFL.
