Inmate Escapes From Merced County Detention Center

39-year-old Adrian Hicks of Merced has escaped from a Merced country detention center on Wednesday.

Merced police say Adrian Hicks was arrested on December 13th for multiple charges including possession of stolen property and grand theft, and was being held without bail.

After a 6:30am head count on Wednesday reveled that Adrian Hicks was missing, correctional officers discovered blankets on a fence behind one of the dorms. Officers say they discovered that Hicks had escaped through a hole in the bathroom ceiling.

A county wide alert has been sent to allied agencies and police are actively searching for the suspect.
