VISALIA, Calif. (KMPH) -
Visalia police have arrested a 14-year-old Mt. Whitney H.S. student for plotting a school shooting.
Late Thursday, Visalia police say they received information from the Visalia Unified School District that a shooting was planned to take place at the high school on Friday.
Detectives investigated through the night to identify the suspect. A search warrant was then served at the students home in Woodlake where police say he was arrested for terrorist threats and a gang enhancement.
Investigators say that the shooting appears to be a part of a gang initiation, and there are no other suspects known at this time.
In response to this, all high school campuses across Visalia have increased security.
