FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A student from the West campus of Central High School was taken into custody by the Fresno Police on Thursday for possessing a gun on campus.

Central Unified School District sent out this automated message to tell parents about the arrest:

"This is Robert Griffith principal of Central High School. This is to inform you that a safety incident occurred on West campus today. Protocols are in place and were followed which resulted in a safe conclusion to this incident. The student was arrested and is in custody.
