SQUAW VALLEY, Calif. (KMPH) -

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is serving a search warrant at the Squaw Valley home of a man whose son disappeared last week.

Investigators say 20-year-old Spencer Scarber's father -- Kyle Scarber -- reported him missing on the morning of December 12.

Kyle Scarber is the assistant chief of the Central Valley California Highway Patrol.

He told detectives he had last seen Spencer at his house on George Smith Road around 1:30 a.m., but when he checked on him a few hours later he was nowhere to be found.

Outside the house, he found blood and a set of crutches his son had been using in the last couple of days.

Spencer Scarber had been set to testify in his rape trial that same day. Even though he was not present, a jury convicted him in the case a few days later.
