KETTLEMAN CITY, Calif. (KMPH) -

The search is on for two men following a home break-in and shooting in Kettleman City.

The Kings County Sheriff's Office says it all started when two men broke into a home near Milham Avenue and 3rd Street shortly after noon Friday.

Investigators say the homeowner showed up from work and found the two men inside. They say the suspects shot at him, and he fired a shotgun back as the two ran away.

One of the suspects may have been hit, but the homeowner was not hurt, the sheriff's office said.

The men were reportedly seen taking off in a green car.
