A 16-year-old student is behind bars facing charges for carrying a gun on campus, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.
Two detectives entered the teen boy's classroom at Eastin-Arcola Continuation School Wednesday afternoon to take him into custody.
During his arrest, an unloaded gun fell and landed on a detective's foot, the sheriff's office said.
The teen was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of being in possession of a weapon on campus and theft of a firearm.
