KERMAN, Calif. (KMPH) -
A shopping center in Kerman was evacuated Tuesday morning while police investigated a package they feared was a bomb.
Kerman Police say a man found the package inside a newspaper dispenser at a supermarket parking lot on Whitesbridge and Madera avenues. He then called 911.
The bomb squad took the package to another location to detonate it.
It was not a bomb, but police say someone set it there on purpose. They are now trying to figure out who did it.
The evacuation order was lifted a few hours later.
