Victor Dean was able to witness Fresno State's conference championship first hand, Saturday, but he was on crutches on the sideline. And when KMPH interviewed him at halftime, he did indeed confirm what we first reported on the day of his injury. He did suffer a broken femur.
Dean was in great spirits. He seemed very positive about the whole situation. And hopes to be back just after spring ball next season, although he said it's too early in the rehab process to have an exact timeline for his return.
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State junior quarterback Derek Carr was named the National Player of the Week on Sunday by two different outlets following his 452-yard passing performance that led Fresno State to a 48-15 victory over Air Force.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation named Carr its National Offensive Player of the Week. Then the College Football Performance Awards honored Carr as its National Performer of the Week and National Quarterback of the Week.
Carr set a Fresno State single-game record for highest completion percentage by connecting on 28-of-32 passes for 87.5 percent. He threw for 452 yards and four touchdowns to lead Fresno State past the Falcons in the win that clinched the Mountain West championship for the 'Dogs, the school's first conference title since 1999.
After the victory, Carr announced he would return for his senior season in 2013.
It was Carr's third game this season throwing for over 400 yards with at least four touchdowns and he is one of three quarterbacks in the nation that has done so.
His three 400-yard passing games this year has also set a new Mountain West single-season record.
Carr has completed 68.1 percent of his 457 passes this season and has 36 touchdowns against five interceptions. He ended the regular season with 126 consecutive passes without an interception.
He ranks seventh nationally with 3,742 passing yards and his 36 touchdowns are the fourth-most in the FBS.
Carr is one of only four quarterbacks in the nation that has thrown for over 3,000 yards and only five interceptions.
