Small Business Saturday: Fairies, Santa And Cupcakes, Oh My!

The spirit of the season is alive and well all year long at Jude's Fantasy Land at the Pavilion West shopping center in northwest Fresno.

"I love Christmas," Jude Lanfranco, owner, said.

That's why she decided to open her store just three months ago, in the hopes that others love Christmas, and the other holidays, too.

"I love to entertain. So I have all holidays year-round, with an emphasis on Christmas and it's going to be something that Fresno has not seen," Lanfranco said.

From fairies to Santas, Christmas trees and much, much more, Jude's Fantasy Land is a holiday lover's dream come true.

"It's fantasy, it really is. When everyone comes in, you forget what's going on outside and it makes you happy. That's what I'm trying to do, make everyone happy with an emphasis on customer service," Lanfranco said.

And for all those holiday parties you don't want to cook for, you can go down to Maddie Cakes.

They've got cupcakes, cakes and other treats already made for you.

The store has had more than 800 orders just for Thanksgiving, and they expect to be just as busy for Christmas.

"We offer jumbo sized cupcakes, a variety of different flavors daily; it can range from eight to 13 different flavors. We also do custom cakes, specialty fondant cakes, butter cream cakes," Stephanie Garza, whose mother opened Maddie Cakes, said.

They're hoping customers dig into their business.

"It's always good to shop anywhere local just to help out everybody else," Garza said.

It's the same wish for the folks at Jude's Fantasy Land.

"Big chains are great. They have awesome stuff. But we also have awesome product also. And I think shopping local is probably the best," Lanfranco said.

All of the stores in the Pavilion West shopping center will be open for "Small Business Saturday".

"Jude's Fantasy Land" will run a special promotion of 20% off all "Michael Robert's" fairies and elves.
