Mariposa Museum Reopens After $2 Million Heist

Posted:
MARIPOSA, Calif. (KMPH) -

The doors are back open at the California State Mining and Mineral Museum in Mariposa.

The museum had been closed since September 28 when two men dressed as ninjas stole more than $2 million worth of gold and gems. They got away before officers arrived.

According to a release by the California State Parks office, that agency was tasked to make repairs to the museum in order to reopen the doors as soon as possible, the Mariposa Gazette reports.

The public will be able to view most of what's left of the museum's collection. However, none of the stolen goods were recovered, and no arrests have been made.
