The Fresno State football team, with an overall record of 5-3, will become eligible for a post season bowl game with a win Saturday at New Mexico.
But head coach Tim DeRuyter says a six win season is nothing to celebrate, adding the goal of his team is to win the Mountain West Conference championship.
DeRuyter believes winning games on the road, like the one Saturday in Albuquerque, is one step toward achieving that goal. He also admits the Bulldogs do not control their own destiny because a of a loss at Boise State.
Fresno State, 4-1 in league play, must win the remaining four games on the schedule, and hope another Mountain West team can upset the Broncos somewhere down the line.
That would give the Bulldogs at least a share of the title in their first season in the Mountain West.
