91-Year-Old Driver Plows Car Into Fresno 7-Eleven

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A 91-year-old woman crashed her car into a 7-Eleven convenience store in Southeast Fresno Wednesday afternoon.

The accident was reported around 3 p.m. at the store located on Chestnut and Church.

Fresno Police Officer Todd Williams says it appears the woman had just left the store when she backed up in her Dodge Intrepid and hit a curb. He says the driver got confused and put the car in drive, then accidentally stepped on the gas pedal and plowed into the 7-Eleven.

An employee was hurt by flying debris. That person was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

No one else was hurt.

The store manager told police that the accident could have been much worse because there were seven to ten kids inside the 7-Eleven just two minutes earlier, Williams said.

Investigators are still looking into the crash.
