LOS BANOS, Calif. (KMPH) -

A 20-year-old Stanislaus County man has been charged with robbing the Los Banos DMV office at gunpoint on January 31.

Jason Moran is currently in custody on assault charges in Manassas, Virginia.

Los Banos Police believe Moran is one of two men who walked into the DMV office along West L Street with a gun and robbed the employees of cash. They say both men had their faces covered with black ski masks.

Part of the investigation included detectives flying to Virginia to interview Moran about the case. A $300,000 warrant has been issued charging him with the armed robbery.

"Our Detectives have invested an incredible amount of time in this investigation and have been determined to solve this case," Cmdr. Ray Reyna said. "They really have done a great job. We will be working with the Merced County District Attorney's Office to have Moran extradited back to California."

Anyone with information about the second suspect is asked to call Detective Justin Melden at (209) 827-7070 ext. 114.
