FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Several high school students have come together to apply their knowledge outside the classroom.
They're doing something really cool: building robots!
The students have six weeks to build one, but these robots are more like Jeremy Lin than R2-D2.
The robot has to be able to pick up a basketball and shoot it into a hoop.
"The Kids learn a lot from this program. It's something that usually you don't get in an ordinary classroom. The kids here they learn about electronics. They learn about drivetrain. They even learn about how to work with each other, how to brainstorm ideas and how to use software," said Due Hoang, a math and engineering teacher at Edison High School.
The robot builders will compete in Madera April 5th, 6th and 7th.
