FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
The Mardi Gras parade in Fresno's Tower District was billed as western themed, but when it comes to fun times on Olive avenue, anything goes.
The annual Mardi Gras parade in the Tower is first and foremost about fun, bands and beads are a close second. People lined Olive Avenue for the early Sunday afternoon parade. There were lots of floats.
The SPCA brought a few furry friends to send home a message. "Spay today, neuter now!"
Parade participants rolled down the road on bicycles, wheel chairs, and in their automobiles from the age of flower power. California dreamin', on such a winter's day.
David Flores brought his niece and nephew. It was a first time experience for the three. "I've heard about it all these years. I wanted to come check it out and see what it looked like. Get out of the house," Flores said.
As Fat Tuesday nears, anything goes. Everyone is decked out in crazy outfits and in search of beads. Jeff Hannel was sporting his Monty Python Knights who say Ni. "Oh I thought it was great. It seems to get a little better every year. Lots of different groups out there," Hannel said.
Two days before Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras has arrived in the Tower.
