FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
The man who admitted killing 100-year-old Joe Fischer in Sanger last year was sentenced Friday morning.
47-year-old David Anthony Romero will spend 29 years to life behind bars.
In January, Romero pleaded no contest to first-degree murder.
Detectives say his mother turned him in.
Romero had just been released from jail because of overcrowding when he attacked Fischer in his apartment in August 2011.
Mr. Fischer died three days later at a hospital.
