FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
The Fresno man whose stepdaughter was shot and killed with a gun found in the family home will be let out of jail Thursday.
A judge has sentenced Jared Dubois to three years probation after he pleaded guilty to one count of possessing ammunition.
His six-year-old stepdaughter, Emily Lavender, was killed when her two-year-old brother found a gun in the home and accidentally fired it.
Last year, Dubois was sentenced to three years probation for criminal storage of a firearm.
He was later arrested again after police found live ammunition in his home, which was a violation of his probation.
Dubois could have been sentenced to up to three years in jail.
