"Nose Problem" Forces F-16 Emergency Landing In Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

The pilot of an F–16 fighter jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Fresno Wednesday.

The trouble started when a light on the control panel indicated some kind of problem with the plane's nose-wheel landing gear, officials say.

Emergency vehicles rolled out prepared for the worst, but the plane touched down safely at the California Air National Guard Base.

Both plane and pilot are part of the 144th Air National Guard Fighter Wing based at the California Air National Guard Base in Fresno.

The Fresno Grizzlies fell to another late Albuquerque Tuesday night in an 8-7 loss to the Isotopes.

Albuquerque carried a 6-0 lead into the top of the sixth inning when the Grizzlies rallied to score six times. Juan Ciriaco had the big hit for Fresno. His bases loaded double drove in three runs.

But the Isotopes snapped a 7-7 tie in the eighth on a run scoring single by Joe Becker.
