FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Nearly 1,500 lined up at Chukchansi Park Saturday morning.

But it wasn't a day of baseball they were taking in.

The crowd was looking for work.

The line to get into the stadium stretched around the block, and many people got here early.

"We've been waiting for a while, a couple hours, two and a half hours. I've been out of work since January 2010, and I've been out of work for two years now, applying everywhere I can, and no hits," said Robbie Klein, who was waiting in line.

The Fresno Grizzlies are looking to fill positions, such as ushers, ticket takers, security, housekeeping, concessions, and bat boys.

All to make sure game day runs smoothly.

And the hiring staff has their work cut out for them.

"We only have a few minutes with each applicant, so if we can get the to show their personality and make us want to hire them with the couple minutes they get, that's good," said Chris Kutz, spokesman for the Fresno Grizzlies.

He says in this case, first impressions go farther than experience.

"First impressions are important because you will be interacting with all our fans and if you're exciting and personable, that's important as well," said Kutz.

The Grizzlies' season starts on Friday, April 13th.

They have 72 home games on the schedule.
