Teenager Derrick Randolph is hoping the game of basketball will help him overcome tragedy in his life.
He was once homeless, living on the streets of Chicago. He also had three family members die in the span of one week.
Two former Fresno State basketball players are trying to help, moving Randolph to the Central Valley where the next challenge is improving his grades. A hardship waiver could get him a fifth year of high school eligibility, and he plans to play basketball at Fresno's Roosevelt High next year.
A slick, ball-handling point guard, Randolph can work magic on the basketball court. He has become a YouTube sensation who hopes to someday play for Fresno State.
