The Fresno State men's basketball team got some disappointing news Tuesday when reserve guard Larry McGaughey was ruled academically ineligible for the spring semester.
A news release issued by the athletics department also stated McGaughey has left the program.
The 6-5 junior was in his first season at Fresno State after transferring from a community college in Alabama.
McGaughey played in all 17 games, averaging four points and one rebound per game. He logged a season-high 27 minutes Saturday at Idaho.
The loss of McGaughey comes as the Bulldogs are preparing for their first WAC home games of the season. They host Hawaii and San Jose State Thursday and Saturday nights.
