Man Carjacked, Nearly Run Over Twice; 2 Arrested

CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) -

Fresno Police are reminding you not to leave your car unattended while it's warming up.

One man learned that lesson the hard way after he was roughed up and nearly run over twice by carjackers in Clovis.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. Monday near Peach and Ashlan.

The man turned on his truck and was loading tools into the back, when a tan Nissan Pathfinder drove up next to him. That's when someone got out of the Nissan, shoved the victim to the ground and started to drive away in the truck, said Sgt. Tim Tietjen, with the Fresno Police Department's Career Criminal Auto Theft Team (CCAT).

The victim was almost run over as he tried to stop the truck, and he was nearly run over again after the truck and Pathfinder made a U-turn, Sgt. Tietjen said.

The truck was found about three hours later at an apartment complex on North Recreation near Olive in Central Fresno.

Two men -- who were already stripping the truck -- were arrested, Tietjen said. They face charges of possession of stolen property.

Police say they are still searching for the carjacker.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
