McDonald Leaves Edison High to Coach at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Fresno's Tim McDonald was one of seven assistant coaches named to the staff of the Bulldogs' new head football coach Tim DeRuyter Wednesday.

McDonald, a former All-American at USC and Pro Bowl and Super Bowl winning safety in the NFL, is leaving his post as head coach at Edison High School to coach the Bulldogs' secondary. He will be assisted by Jordan Peterson.

The new offensive coordinator is Dave Schramm, who has been at Utah for seven seasons.

The defensive coordinator is Nick Toth, who was with DeRuyter at Texas A&M. Pete Germano leaves Ohio University to coach Fresno State's special teams and linebackers. Phil Earley, with 25 years of coaching experience, is the Bulldogs' new recruiting coordinator.

Drew Hill returns for his ninth year as operations coordinator.
