Tim DeRuyter takes over next week as the new head football coach at Fresno State. He's been working double duty since being hired to replace Pat Hill two weeks ago.
DeRuyter has talked to recruits and tried to put together a new staff of assistant coaches.
All the while, he has been serving as interim head coach for Texas A&M, where he was defensive coordinator under the recently fired Mike Sherman.
The Aggies have a bowl game Saturday against Northwestern, then DeRuyter is free to take over the reigns of the Bulldogs full time.
He's also had to deal with the death of a Texas A&M player. Joey Villavicencio was killed in a car crash last week. His teammates will wear a decal on their helmets to honor him during the bowl game.
Coach DeRuyter believes the Aggies will be ready to take the field.
