Greg Smith Regrets Leaving Fresno St. for NBA

Posted: Updated:

Greg Smith wishes he would've stayed in school and played for Fresno State at least one more year, instead of entering the NBA draft, the former Bulldogs' center tells KMPH Friday afternoon. He says the last 4-6 months have been tough, but he doesn't want to live with any regrets. Smith left Fresno State after his sophomore year to enter the NBA, but went undrafted. He played in Mexico during the lockout, then got a tryout with the Houston Rockets. He was waived on Friday, but says the organization really likes him, and he will play for their D-League team, before hopefully, getting another shot at the top level. Smith seemed very positive, driven and content. He's happy to be back in Fresno for the holidays with friends, family, and his daughter. He heads back to Houston next week.
