FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
Fresno State has found the man it wants to replace Pat Hill as head football coach, but landing him is a different story.
It was widely reported by other media outlets Tuesday evening that current Texas A&M defensive coordinator and interim head coach Tim DeRuyter had been offered the job, and would be introduced at a news conference Wednesday.
But I have been told an offer has not yet been made, although negotiations were continuing to try to work out a deal to make it happen.
The university may be trying to find the money it will take to get DeRuyter to accept the job.
He is a high-energy defensive specialist, maybe just what Fresno State needs right now.
Meanwhile, as you might expect, all the rumors are creating a media frenzy.
KMPH News reporter Erik Rosales witnessed it first hand, and has all the details.
