FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -
A Valley family is struggling to cope with a brutal Thanksgiving Day attack.
A 91-year-old woman was shot in the face and robbed in her home in San Joaquin early Thanksgiving morning.
Investigators say the man grabbed what he could after he shot her and ran.
The woman was flown to the hospital for surgery.
She lives in her home with her 63-year-old daughter, who wasn't hurt in the attack, investigators say.
Neighbors say they're not used to violence in their peaceful rural community.
"[Everyone] here work in the fields…just live here in San Joaquin to work. I'm sad. I'm sad you know," said neighbor Miguel Avalos.
