FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Are you looking to give some of your Facebook friends the boot? Here's your chance.

Today is National Unfriend Day.

It's a trend started by late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.

He encourages people to clean out their friends list, to only include people who are important and post relevant, interesting things to their Facebook wall.

Kimmel started the campaign because he thinks the meaning of the word "friend" has been stretched.
