Some Bulldogs Fans Want Coach Pat Hill to Step Down

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

In a news conference Monday, a confident but defensive coach Pat Hill told members of the media he still believes he's the best guy for the job as Fresno State's head football coach.

But several Fresno State supporters and ticket holders want the coach to step down.

Several hundred people have joined a Facebook page titled "Fire Pat Hill."

Coach Hill says he plans to go back to the basics -- intensive short practices with fundamental football -- even if that means he doesn't win for the rest of the season.

Those who want coach Hill to go say they're tired of seeing Boise State pass up Fresno, along with Hawaii, Nevada and now Louisiana Tech.

Coach Hill says, "I don't go into a game worrying about my job. I'm just trying to get the team better."

"Considering the fact we moved to the Mountain West, and Boise moving away, and then San Diego moving away, I'm not sure if Fresno State will be successful there," said Dan Golden, a longtime Fresno State football ticket holder.

But what is Fresno State saying?

The University's Senior Associate Athletic Director, Paul Ladwig, says, "Pat Hill is our football coach, and Hill will be evaluated at the end of the season like any other coach, and the season is not over."
