
Former boxer and nutrition expert Jenifer Alcorn joined us in the studio Wednesday morning to talk about fabulous fall foods.
She showed us the foods that will give us the most energy, vitamins, and those that will leave us feeling full.
Here is a list of foods that Jenifer says you might want to pick up the next time you're at the grocery store:
1. Apples - 60 calories
-- High in fiber and antioxidants
2. Cranberries - 25 calories (1/2 cup)
-- High in vitamins A & D
-- High in antioxidants
3. Winter squash - 80 calories (1 cup)
-- Acorn, butternut, pumpkin
-- High in vitamins A & D
-- High in fiber
4. Pumpkin seeds - 160 calories (1/2 cup)
-- High in iron, magnesium, and phosphorous
5. Root vegetables - 80 calories (1/3 cup)
-- Sweet potato, yams
-- High in vitamins A, C, & potassium
