"GLORY DAYS" GOES BACK AND FORTH

So these four guys get together after having graduated five years ago from high school. The thing that bonds these young men together is that none of them made the football team. Things happen that, while looking back at all the pranks, laughs and testosterone laden "good times", cause them to look forward and threatens their here-to-fore unquestioned bond. Therein lies the tale, and our involvement is closer to home than most of us think.

I dare not say more, else I "telegraph" too much. Suffice it to say that the performances are great. Each of the four parts are played with sincerity, compassion, honesty and energy. Each actor dug out the salient portion of their character, and led us to it with restraint and integrity.

Anthony Taylor, director of "Glory Days" and founder of Organic Theater Factory has once again displayed his prowess in things theatrical. Its prerequisites, artistry, intellect, skill and the perspective of maturity, (to mentions but a few), Anthony exhibits like the MOST beautiful women carry themselves, with gracious aplomb.

There is also a very skilled hand audible in the music. Terry Lewis, much more than the vocal coach, has made sure that the voices, the harmonies and the genre of the music itself is as explanatory as is the diction and ensemble singing. Listen for the tight harmonies. Wonderful.

The set is sparse. It works. One is reminded of the off-off Broadway productions on the upper West Side, or down in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. They are giving us "the human predicament" without the distracting frills. I enjoyed it. Thanks to this company and others in our area like it, theater LIVES in the valley. Go! Support these vibrant talents who give of themselves while they are still here. It's kind of like our minor league baseball team, when you go you never know when you're seeing a legend at the beginning of a dazzling career. Can you pick them out? PWI!!!
