NEW YORK (AP) - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are married. A spokesman for the couple says Jolie and Pitt wed Saturday in a small chapel in France. It was a private ceremony attended by family and friends. In advance of the nondenominational civil ceremony, Pitt and Jolie also obtained a marriage license from a local California judge. The judge also conducted the ceremony in France. The couple's children took part in the wedding.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Southern California is seeing the kind of epic surf usually associated with Hawaii or Tahiti. Beaches are thronged with wave riders and crowds are coming to watch the action even as seaside communities try to stave off damage from the ocean onslaught. A third day of waves spawned the far-off Hurricane Marie is expected today before calmer waters return.

LAKEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Sheriff's homicide detectives are investigating the discovery of a body in a drainage well on a Los Angeles County freeway. City News Service reports Caltrans workers found the badly decomposed body early today along the center divider of the 605 Freeway in Lakewood. Sheriff's Lt. Alicia Malone says the identity of the dead person was not immediately determined.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. is trying to determine if a second American fighting with the Islamic State group has been killed in Syria. The State Department says the U.S. has no independent confirmation of reports of a second American killed while fighting with the militant group. The U.S. has confirmed the death of one American, Douglas McArthur McCain of San Diego.
