On Tuesday, the U.S. Census Bureau released more figures from the 2010 Census.
The city of Fresno is now California's fifth most populated city. In 2000, the city ranked sixth.
About 494,665 people lived in Fresno last year which is an increase of about 15.7% from a decade ago.
Fresno County was home to about 930,450 people in 2010. Ten years earlier, there were almost 800,000 people.
Tulare County, like Fresno County, is among the state's 20 most populated counties.
About 442,179 people were living in Tulare County last year. In the year 2000, there were more than 368,000.
